JLD School of Dancing – Health and Safety Policy

JLD School of Dancing places great importance on staff and the safety of learners, visitors and customers who use school undertakings. Whenever possible accidents and ill health will be prevented by the establishment by effective health and safety management systems within the school, and by appropriate training for staff. 

Health and safety standards can only be maintained with the co-operation of all staff. By following the policy and procedures, we can help to ensure that the school offers a safe and pleasant environment to everyone. The school will ensure the development of a positive attitude to the issues of Health and Safety, by making all users aware of relevant issues. The school will comply with all statutory Health and Safety and take a proactive approach to its legal responsibilities. 

The school ensures, so far as is reasonably practicable, the Health, Safety and Welfare of its staff, learners and other users of the school’s undertaking by: 

·       Providing and maintaining locations, plant, equipment, and systems of work that are safe and without risk to health 

·       Arranging for the safe use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances 

·       Providing and maintaining a safe place of work and safe access to egress from it. 

·       Providing sufficient information, instruction, training and supervision to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the safety of its staff, learners and general public using the school premises, to enable them to avoid risks and contribute positively to their own health and safety. 

·       Providing and maintaining a healthy working environment and adequate facilities and arrangements for the welfare of staff and learners.

·       Ensuring effective arrangements are in place for consultation with externally appointed Safety Representative in accordance with statutory requirements, to enable management, staff and learners to co-operate effectively in promoting and developing measures to ensure Health and Safety at work. 

·       Ensuring adherence to current UK government legislation regarding Covid-19 and directing all staff, learners and members of the general public to follow procedures identified in the school’s Covid-19 Risk Assessment.
