Katherine Werrell

Modern & Tap

Katherine started her training at the Sally Weichardt Academy in Abingdon before attending full time training at The Centre Performing Arts College, Charlton under the tuition of Karen King. Katherine graduated in 2006 with a Diploma in Dance and her initial ISTD Foundation in Dance Instruction qualifications in Modern and Tap dance.

Her performances at and after college took her to The Greenwich Theatre, Bloomsbury Theatre, Cochrane Theatre and the Roundhouse in Camden. Katherine also appeared as a dancer on Channel 4’s Friday Night Project.

 

Since her graduation Katherine has continued her teaching qualifications with the ISTD, gaining her Fellowship Modern and Fellowship Tap with the Society. Katherine has also completed her training to teach the new Contemporary Syllabus for the ISTD and trained to teach the Progressive Ballet Technique to compliment her training.

 

Katherine has been teaching in Northampton since 2003 at Sinead Loughnane Academy as head of Modern and Tap coaching students to vocational level alongside Jazz and Contemporary.  In 2015 Katherine became Course Director at Sinead Loughnane Academy Teacher Training Centre and is tutoring all units of the ISTD Level 4 Diploma in Dance Education in Modern and Tap.

 

Katherine also teaches Tap & Modern vocational grades at Tring Park Associates and has been part of the team at TPA since September 2020 entering students from Grade 5 - Advanced 2 level.
